GuGu Michaels Bio

GuGu E. Michaels is an accomplished filmmaker who has worked as a

director on a number of commercials and independent projects including

the feature films "Thugz", "Dangerous County", Urban Killaz", "Repentance",

"Best Served Cold", "Pastor's Wife", Dangerous Men", "Unge's War" "Jacob's

Eye" and just completed "Private Targets" Tv series.

He has helmed a number of campaign for retailers like Cadillac and Porche.

Prior to founding Gu International Pictures, Michaels served as president of

Dallas based indie record label Redrumm Recordz and worked with such

artists as hip hop giants UGK, LUDACRIS, Crazy Bone of Bone Thugs & Harmony

andSTEVE AUSTIN. GuGu E. Michaels has toured with several major artists such

as Snoop Dog, Lil flip, Cash Money's Hot Boyz, Red Man - Method Man, and

the Luniz.

GuGu E. Michaels won best editor and cinematography at the Black Film Festival in 2005. In 2012 he has racked up over 5 awards combined from various film festivals and award organizations such as World Music and Independent Film festival where he took home Best Action film, Best Cinematography, and Best African film for his film "Dangerous Men". Meanwhile his epic picture "UNGE'S WAR" picked up 2 awards at NAFFCA The African Movie Awards for Best Traditional Picture, and Best Costume in a film. Michaels eye for details in movies continues to prove it's worth by getting him 2 more awards for "UNGE'S WAR" at (GIAMA) Golden Icon Academy Movie Awards for Best Indigenous Film (Native Language) and Best Cinematography.
